Although I sometimes combined SBD feeds with mic pulls in this venue, I can't tell if I was doing that for this show. If I was, the sources are pretty tightly matched. At any rate, there are no tell-tale phasing patterns here that would suggest any issues that sometimes arise with on the fly SBD/AUD mixes. I was also running a cassette deck, which I believe was the primary capture and pass-through device, which would mean the CD-writer was basically getting an auxillary feed from the cassette deck. I can't be sure at this point - I didn't leave myself any notes, and I have only my ears to go by. The idea for running a deck and a burner was to capture anything that might be missed when I had to write each CD-R, and insert a new disc. In this situation, the dsics missed a few seconds between tracks 036 and 037, which I have patched together here from the cassette source. You will note that the cassette has a bit of hiss to it, which is what I was trying to avoid by recording the show direct to disc in the first place. I do have the bulk of the same show on cassette as well, but it is unlikely that I'll do anything with that - at least not at this time, since I'm satisfied with the way the disc recording turned out. CD-R source: digital extract from CD-Rs to hard drive converted from .aiff to .wav with Audacity*** > tracked with CDWav editor > minor patches and DC offset with SoundForge > SBE check/repair; .flac conversion (level 8) with Traders Little Helper ***[the .aiff file was a result of extracting the files onto a mac, but as I do my audio work on a PC in SoundForge, I converted the files to .wav] cassette source [end of 036 and beginning of 037 only]: Azimuth-optimized digital transfer from 1st-gen (presumably) cassette (mic and deck unknown) > analog/digital transfer to hard drive > captured and tracked with CDWav editor > minor patches and DC offset with SoundForge > SBE check/repair; .flac conversion (level 8) with Traders Little Helper Touring with My Morning Jacket This year, we had two GBV appearances - one on March, and this one in June. This night was an "early" show - not an "all-ages" show, but early, as the venue had a regular "dance" night that actually generated most of their revenue, so the bands had to finish by around 9 or 10 p.m., I believe. John Entwhistle had passed away this same evening, so GBV attempted to play a cover of "My Wife"; although they gave it a good try, had to bail after a verse. There weren't a lot of surprises at this show, but a few: Short On Posters" and a final encore of "A Hard Day's Night". I always ask only one thing on any torrents I upload to the DIME tracker: please don't post "artwork" here. I know someone's going to make some, I'm just asking that you don't post it here on my torrent. It's not asking much, and that's all I need to make it worth my time to keep posting shows here. Please appreciate that, and just enjoy the music, okay?
