A very good, albeit unknown gen here. This seems to be a pretty rare recording and it contains the only known performances of “Martin’s Story” and “My Heart and the Real World”. Unfortunately, D.’s guitar craps out in the middle of the latter, but Watt and George finish it up nicely. Watt makes the comment that the song is supposed to be funny because it’s got so many words and they don’t give D. enough time to sing them… The line-up of the evening was a bit odd, in that the minutemen play, then Exene Cervenka and Harvey Kubernick do poetry readings, then the minutemen play again. The sets aren’t acoustic, and are still rockin’, but do have a bit more of a laid back quality. Crane is featured on trumpet here, and they do an uncommon “Flame Child” too. Closing with “The Anchor” says a bit something about the feel of the show. The crowd was surely seated and polite, but enthusiastic. I hadn’t heard this in a while, but just pulled the transfer and figured I’d get this back into circulation a bit. Enjoy! Please don’t sell it!! Please don’t disseminate in MP3 Format.
