Since I usually upload primary source recordings, I add some background here in the details section to give those interested in downloading firsthand additional information about the item. In this case there are several things I'd like to say, and I'm not sure where to start. So, I guess I'll start by saying that this recording has, ever since I first popped it in a deck to watch, been both miraculous and crushing. What you won't see, but will get a sense of, is the horrendous camera switching glitches that mar this unique and rare Minutemen performance document. You also won't have to listen to the vastly inferior audio that this originally was saddled with. The repair, authoring and preparation to create what we have here was a massively tedious and time consuming undertaking by Grner1. I have to stress that Minutemen fans owe a HUGE DEBT OF GRATITUDE to him for this. REPEAT, HUGE GRATITUDE. That's just for the final watch-able production. It of course should go without saying that we all owe a debt to the Minutemen, and also Jim and Frank, the guys at the Stone that hooked me up with the audio and video feeds. Jim mixed FOH sound and Frank operated the in-house 3 camera, remote controlled video system. Because the switching glitches made this so difficult to watch with enjoyment, this has sat on a shelf for 23 years. Even now sections are obviously compromised but at least now the viewer doesn't get a headache after 10 minutes. BUT, for Minutemen fans this is still an absolutely fantastic document. The good sections are terrific. The close-ups of D. Boon and Mike Watt are numerous and amazing. This captures a relaxed but well rehearsed performance(as a support act!) of the band during that last year when things were going well and they were gaining notoriety and popularity and appeared to be on their way to bigger and better things. Occasionally here at Dime something genuinely unique and special surfaces amidst all the "gen unknown's" and "re-seeds" and "silver boots" etc. I'm going to say I think this qualifies.
