THE REPLACEMENTS December 11, 1985 Berkeley Square Berkeley, CA incomplete(last 7 songs) AKG c-33e stereo mic>Sony TC D-5m(dolby b) Nakamichi Dragon(dolby decoded)>RME(A-D conv.)>Apple G4(Peak editing-Xact) Notes: I came across this in my tapes and thought, might as well put it up, because it's just sitting here and someone might enjoy it and if I don't then it will end up lost forever. My cassette recorder malfunctioned, for some reason it ran at a very slow and unsteady speed. I really doubt what is on the tape is recoverable. The fact that it was running so slowly meant that it took an inordinate amount of time to reach the end of the side for the flip. So, even though the deck started to work normally once the tape was flipped, most of the show had passed so only these seven songs are listenable. You may notice some pitch wobble at the beginning of the first song but it stabilizes. You will hear me comment that it was too short and that comment was based on how little tape had been used. This show was actually 90 to 100 minutes but everything up to what's here is totally un-usable. This was the last time I saw the 'Mats with Bob Stinson. I always preferred this line-up even though the band ran hot or cold, GREAT or terrible. Slim was ok but the fire just didn't s eem to burn as bright. I will try to get my other 'Mats up eventually.
